The great thing about the Trois Vallées is the brilliant range of things to do.  Here are just a few to complement your triathlon holiday:

Taking it easy

There is no need to be a super fit to take advantage of the mountains when you have a choice of pathways or silent, ultra-modern lifts to take you as high as 2800m.  The fresh alpine landscapes will help you unwind and recharge your batteries.  Resort-to-resort buses are free and an impressive network of lifts ferry you between 1300 and 2800m in comfort and silence.

Why not take a nap in one of the beautiful spots that abound La Tania and les 3 Vallées or organize a picnic?  The banks of Lake Rosière or the lakes at Le Praz or Bozel make a magnificent venue for relaxing or having a barbecue.  Click here to view the valley map.

Swimming

The area has great swimming facilities. La Tania has a suntrap 20m open air pool in the centre of the village.  Meribel (10minutes away by bus) has a fab 25m laned covered pool with separate slides and play area for children.  Courchevel 1550 (also 10 minutes by bus) has a two pools one of which is 25m and half covered, the other open air.

There is also lake swimming at Bozel (15 minutes down the mountain in the valley) and the lovely Lake Annecy which is 60-90 minutes away by car.

Walking/Climbing/Mountaineering

Located at the edge of the Vanoise National Park, les 3 Vallées is the top spot for rambling and walking.  The views are breathtaking and the brilliant lift system gives easy access to many gorgeous places.  There is also the added bonus of choosing some routes that encompass a restaurant stop on the mountain side.  Why not use a local guide to show you the best routes.

As for climbing, there are a range of activities to choose from depending on abilities.  There are climbing walls to practice on at Courchevel 1550 & 1850 and guides who can help show you climbing routes at altitude.

A popular activity that is achievable by anyone with a head for heights is Via Ferrata.  This is climbing with ropes and harnesses over a set route of metal rungs, monkey bridges and guide rails.  See map for locations. Click here to view the valley map.

Mountain Biking

Les 3 Vallées offers an excellent range of cycling for all abilities.  The area is best known for its mountain biking and regularly hosts national and international competitions.  It has 256km of marked paths - 17 downhill and 13 round circuits, all served by good lift access.  Various mountain biking schools set up in the summer and specialise in free riding and down hill biking.  La Tania is also well served with a great little cycle hire, repair and retail shop run by Victor in the village.

Fishing

The area boasts a number of trout angling sites that are arguably the most beautiful in the Alps.  Five locations are high-altitude lakes lying between 2200 and 2500 metres.  Day licenses, hire shops and more information can be found at the tourist information office in La Tania.

White water stuff

There are several of these cascade sports within 30 minutes of La Tania, ranging from rafting, canyoning (climbing/abseiling through waterfalls and natural slides) and hyrdospeeding (swimming down a white water river with a large float).  More information can be found at the tourist information office in La Tania.
